I love watching super-hero films specifically superheroes films made by marvels studios. I'm a huge f an of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I really loved how they reimagine comic books super-heroes into the big screen. I'm really fascinated about the overall design concept of the MCU and that is why I'm going to review about a book that showcase the concept art of one of the heroes in the MCU. In every marvel studios film being released, there is always a Visual art book that is published by the visual art department of marvel studios regarding all of the work in a Marvel film. Today I'm going to discussed about the book titled The Art of Black Panther. I really enjoy watching Black Panther because it such unique film in the MCU right. The entire cast consists of mostly minorities which is different than the other MCU film that get used of watching. The book covers all of art work from making the Black Panther film. What's good about the art book to me is that it does not only showcase images of concept art but there is also description text in the book that explain the approach of each different concept art. Furthermore, the art book follows the flow of the story in the film, so when your reading the book it feels like you're also watching the film. The book itself showcase a lot of art concept regarding with the black panther film including Character Design, Environment art, Costume design, Weapon's and Vehicles design and many more. I thought the book gives a very good explanation toward each individual design of art that they did for the film. The challenges that the concept artist experience was shared within the book and they also share the reason behind the approach that they did for each individual concept art. After reading the whole book, I learn that the whole theme of Black Panther in terms of visual art is Traditional and Modern-Technology. For the Black Panther Film, the Visual art department of Marvel had to do extensive research prior to creating the concept art for the film. The challenge for the concept art artist was to be able to create concept design that represent the African culture. A lot of the final design in the film was inspired from the different tribes and culture found the Africa Continent and bringing that to combine it with Modern technology. So, when watching the film again, you could find the theme of traditional meets technology found all over the movie. The Concept Artist work closely with Costume designer when it comes to creating the clothing for the characters in Black Panther. I really loved the many different variation of concept that they did for the film. There is at least 20 different design for each character found in the film. I really wonder how many hours the Visual effect department did for design the concept art for the film, because each piece of concept art is beautifully done and very detail with good contrast of color variation. The only problem I have with this book is the price. This book is quite expensive but then again you gain a lot of insight with the information given from the book. But still I wish that that could lower the price for the book a little bit so that I could be truly be satisfied with it. Overall This Visual art book is a must have for anybody who is a big fan of the Black Panther film. If you buy the book, you will definitely appreciate the hard work that the Marvel Visual art department did for the film.
